In 1964, the New York World's Fair opened to the public. Walt Disney created the following four attractions for the fair:
The Carousel of Progress
A unique show that features an American family living through progress. This show was brought to Disneyland's Tomorrowland in 1967 and remained there until 1972. Then, it moved to Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom in 1975. This attraction is still open today.
The Ford Magic Skyway
A ride on a Ford Motors vehicle to travel back to prehistoric time. Most of this attraction's scenery is used today as part of the Primeval World Diorama on the Disneyland Railroad. At the time, it was made of (motorless) Ford cars that were pulled along a track. The track used for the cars eventually became the WEDWay PeopleMover, which is still open in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World.
It's A Small World
One of Disneyworld/Land's most popular attractions that features children from around the world. This attraction is still open at both Disneyland and Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom.
Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln: A show that tells the story of the life and the Presidency of Abraham Lincoln. It's an audio animatronic show and was one of the first of its kind. This attraction is still open at Disneyland at the Main Street Opera House along with The Disneyland Story.
Here's to another 50 years!!
I cannot believe it has been fifty years! I was lucky enough to visit the New York World's Fair as a child. I grew up in Illinois and remember how proud I was to learn that Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln was featured in the Illinois pavilion! It was so amazing! To see Mr. Lincoln stand up and speak to the audience for the first time is something I will never forget!
