Today marks the 25th Anniversary of Captain EO. It’s a 3-D musical starring Michael Jackson aka The King of Pop. The show is back at both Epcot in Florida and at Disneyland in California. It was created by Frances Ford Coppola and George Lucas. Michael Eisner and Kodak approved the project. The film also featured Academy Award Winning Actress Anjelica Huston. On September 12, 1986, it first premiered at Epcot. Six days later on September 18th, it premiered at Disneyland.
The show featured two of Jackson’s songs: “We Are Here To Change The World” and “Another Part Of Me”.
The Attraction was closed in the mid-1990s and replaced by Honey, I Shrunk The Audience.
On June 25, 2009, Michael Jackson passed away. In Memory of Michael, Robert Iger and other Disney executives decided to get rid of Honey I Shrunk The Audience for the return of Captain EO.
That’s Right. The captain is back to change the world again.
